Christmas Eve was extremely busy! We hosted Steve's family and Denise, Gene, and Elizabeth for Christmas Eve dinner. The house looked lovely with all the recent changes and (those holding your breath may now release it) it was CLEAN! The house really did look fabulous and I am going to have to post pictures of Sophie and Abby's room- Steve put up their canopies above their beds- it is so precious- a room fit for my two princesses! After dinner here, we had to move the party to the abode of my parental units. This year, Christmas was not the same there. It was very low key and I had a great time, but one of my sisters was not there this year, and we missed her and her family dearly. After an hour or two there, we moved the party back to our house, where the kids gave us their gifts to us (made possible by the dollar store and Santa Shoppe, lol). Each Christmas we have the tradition of giving the kids new pajamas for Santa's visit and an ornament for their Santa tree. They were able to open these and then we rushed them to bed in anticipation of Santa's visit. Santa was very good to the kids, and I think they all genuinely loved what they received.

Happy Holidays!
Why does it always seem like the highly anticipated moments in life turn out to be just that- moments? Christmas was a whirlwind here at our house. You have no idea what it is like to try to get everyone to every family shindig. But it is worth it. The fun and magic that surround Christmas when you have children make it rewarding. The kids got everything they wanted for Christmas and more....much much more. On the 23rd I risked my sanity and Savannah, Abby, and myself made Sugar Cookies. Then, Sharon's sons- Cole and Matthew- helped us ice them. This has been a tradition for us as long as I can remember- I should post pictures of us doing this when I was little (but I will spare you those big hair shots....)and the children love taking part.

The girls, for the first time, were able to do the dough rolling and cutting all by themselves. They are getting so big!

After the kids all went to the "other parent's" house on Christmas Day, Steve and I took off for Charleston for two nights. Our 1st anniversary was Dec. 21 and we both wanted to do something special to celebrate our first year together. We had Christmas dinner at 82 Queen ( a wonderful restaurant) and ate at Anson's Restaurant for dinner on the 26th. Both were wonderful meals and it was quite interesting to be together for three days with no children. We had a great time. We were able to visit the USS Yorktown (Steve was a Navy guy- it was a must see on this trip) and then we took the tour to Fort Sumter. The last time I went I believe I was five years old, so I can't actually remember a lot of it. We had so much fun and can't wait to have another weekend trip! (Maybe for our second anniversary?)

On our way back from Charleston I began to feel unwell, and by the time we got home my throat was sore, so to speak. On Sunday morning I awoke to swollen tonsils and the feeling that I was just downright sick. We went to urgent care (I hate going there- it never seems that you get adequate care) where they told me that it was just a viral cold. Great. So, I have been on the couch the last two days because I feel so horrible. Hopefully I will begin to feel better tomorrow and Steve will have somebody around to help him out...=) How were your holidays?
