To all my friends, family, voiced commenters, and lurking readers- I hope that you and your family are blessed with happiness and fortune this new year!
On another note-
While in the doctor's office this week I picked up an issue of "Wired" Magazine. Now, I cannot say that I have ever seen this particular magazine ever before, but those who know me also know that I read about anything I can get my hands on, especially in an office where I am waiting for who knows how long. In this magazine an author waxed poetic about why those who blog should essentially turn the blog-producing lights off and shut them down. Why? This was my first question. In his article, the author tells how blogs have become common place and that my blog may not be tops on the list when someone searches for something on Google. This saddened me greatly. Not because I am not at the apex of a Google-produced list on what to read when someone searches brady bunch, but because he is urging someone to silence their voice. All bloggers blog for different reasons. As a child I began to write in a diary, a place to hold my thoughts. Throughout my adolescence I continued to add self-penned journals to my bookshelf- proof that somewhere, deep-down, teenagers do have thoughts in their hormone addled brains- and although I knew no that there was not another soul who would read my rambling sentences, there was something so cathartic about writing that it drew me to those empty pages each and every night. I continued to write in a journal through college but then found that with a job and a child there was less time to wax poetic upon an empty page (let's face it- I passed out from exhaustion at the end of each day- I couldn't stay awake to write in a journal). Today I write on this very blog simply because it is something I enjoy. Some read it to find out what is going on with the kids, others might accidentally stumble onto it and become captivated by the lackluster writing skills and the chaos that is my life. Still, for someone to say that we should close up shop simply because there are so many bloggers, professional and amateur, makes me sad. What do you think?
